The band seemed really tired (this was their 9th gig in 10 days).

Very mellow show. Wasn't nearly as good as the 1980 Radio City Music Hall show they did last time they were here.

(My God...did I just admit I enjoyed something from 1980 more than something from the 70's? Eeeek!)

The performances were fine, but something was lacking (oh, and I couldn't hear the bass at all).

If I were to rate it on 1-10, I'd give it a 6.

Have to agree with your review here Chris. Most likely some fatigue was catching up with them. Although, while I am listening to the matrix of this show, the Dead's energy from that night also seems a little lackluster to me as well. Who knows, maybe DSO is now so tuned in to their mimicry, that now they can even portray the energy level from the night they are covering. Still had a good time with old friends. Peace.

'76 was a super mellow year. They slowed everything down. Jerry did the same in his solo gigs that year. The youtube vid seems like they nailed it for a '76 show to me.

You know, I posted about that on the DSO forums, and the keyboard player came in and said they were "faithful to the era"

At first I thought he was talking about the lack of bass (at least where I was), but someone else chimed in and said he (Keyboard player) was talking about the mood.

So yeah, maybe they do have it down pat :D

Hmmm, at least I know I can probably miss them the next time they come to town. They haven't done a 90's show here in a while, so that's probably up next...

That's a shame. This current lineup (which is better than when JK was frontman) has been incredibly tight and energetic the times I've seen them. I haven't listened to many of their other shows but I haven't heard any weak performances from them yet so I'll be interested to hear this one. I would certainly blame it on fatigue.
